Status of Fr. Wang/James Hua

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This is to provide you the latest update of our beloved Fr. Wang.

Fr. Wang had a fire accident last Friday. Fr. Wang was not injured but his room is not suitable for living so his superior moved him to the first floor. Unfortunately, it was determined that the fire was originated in Father Wang's room.

Due to the shocking experience, Jesuit Retirement House superior believes it's better for Fr. Wang to take good rest and not to go out for any activity.

My wife and I went to visit Fr. Wang today at 11:00. Walking down the hallway, we can see drywall torn open and equipment was inserted into walls to dry out water from sprinkling system due to the fire.

He was lying on his bed awake when nurse lead us to his room. He looked fragile but was very happy to see us. He has no problem with mobility and can walk around by himself. He had some cough due to inhaling smoke. We chatted about what happened but he did not have a clue about the fire. As requested, we had only about 5 to 10 minutes staying so as not to disturb him too much.

Please pray for Fr. Wang for his speedy recovery from the traumatic experience.

At the mean time, Fr. Koo announced (in All Saints Day Mass) that he will try his best to find a priest for reconciliation before 3 PM Sunday Mass. If we can't find any, Fr. Koo or priest for the 3 PM Mass will hear confession from 2:30 to 2:55. There will be no reconciliation during Mass and it's not an approved practice anyway.

For all brothers and sisters who are scheduled to escorting Fr. Wang to Sunday Mass, please DO NOT pick up Fr. Wang as requested by his superior. Fr. Wang needs rest. Please stay tune for further information.

We all love Fr. Wang and I know many of you want to see him to comfort him. Please note that it is still not very convenient for him to see visitor.

To me it's very crude not allowing you to see our beloved Fr. Wang. I believe once per day, 5 to 10 minutes visit, during day time should be OK. Could you please drop me an email if you want to see him? I can monitor how frequent he is visited and prevent too many in a day.

May God bless Fr. Wang and protect him!

James Hua
