Passion team update - by Ker Ching

Dear all,
1. In my effort in initial coordination, I've received valuable feedback reminding us that we should initially stay focused on the 4 highest priorities defined by the result of 20/20 survey, one in each of the four areas.
2. On May 9, Evangelization Team (although I prefer to call it Outreach Team) held a kickoff meeting. In this meeting we defined the preliminary assignment and schedule. Monthly meetings will be held to review status.
3. As I continue to communicate with lay people and clergy who came from Mainland in recent years, I find one thing in common from all the feedback is that "practical assistance in life" 實際的生活幫助 is recognized as the most effective means to win people’s hearts.

Fr Lynch Retreat/Kai Min

Hi Kai Min:

It was wonderful to talk with you this evening. Here are the English
and Chinese versions of the retreat. Please keep in mind that there
will be some changes, but this material will give you a good idea of
what it is all about.

We found it best to print them out (using both sides of the page) and
put them into three-ringed binders. The English and Chinese versions
have the same page numbers for easy comparison.

Please give my warmest greetings to everyone. Prayers for deep peace
and joy of heart! Michael

Subject: update on the 4 Community Action teams

Dear Kai Min,
Praise and thank God, we are making progress in each of the 4 areas, thanks to hard work of many dedicated servants for God! Here is a quick update:
  • Church is our Home.
    • Eddie is leading the initial coordination with Tai-Er, Joseph/Yvonne Tang, Xiu-Li, and Sunny Sang
    • initial brainstorming meeting open to entire community (Mandarin, Cantonese, English), 9:30-11:30 on 6/16 (Sat)
  • Youth is our Future
    • Isabel is leading the initial coordination with Patrick Ku, Joanne Hsai, Steve Chu
    • initial brainstorming meeting tentatively scheduled for 6/10 (Sun) after Mass
  • Faith is our Foundation
    • Ana and Li-Peng are leading the initial coordination with Joanne Hsai, Margarita Hua
    • just met and provided them with the list yesterday at BBQ, the initial brainstorming meeting is being planned
  • Service, Outreach, and Evangelization is our Passion
    • Ker-Ching is leading the initial coordination with help from Rae. This team may split into 3 parallel tracks due to the diverse focus:
      • Service (internal services): Hai Hsia is planning to gather a core team for initial brainstorming first
      • Outreach (external services): Shing-Wu is planning an initial brainstorming
      • Evangelization: tentative initial brainstorming tentatively targeted for weekend of 6/3 or 6/10
Wow, this is amazing progress in short amount of time. Thank you ALL for your work for Christ and for the community.

May God bless us to do His will and serve His people,
+Tony & Wendar

Youth is our future/initial meeting - Isabel

Hey Pat,
Thanks for hosting us today. It was a good prelim meeting. Things are usually 'hazy' at the beginning... but God will lead us through.
Sorry I had to leave early. I'll let you host me again for lunch some other day. :) ha ha.

Hi Patrick,
What a great list! I think it'll be more than a starting point. I can't think of anything else to add but I will pray for you all at the meeting today.

Hi Tony,

Here are my thoughts and ideas for potential qualifications of a full
time youth minister:

Possible Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree and divinity degree (desirable)
- X number of years with Catholic youth ministry (at least a few) (desirable)
- Understanding and passion for Chinese American Catholic youth
- Ability to disciple, teach (Bible, CM, training), and evangelize
- Ability to counsel young people well
- Ability to creatively develop programs for youth to young adults
(YAG is desirable)
- an ideal candidate would have beliefs consistent with the Vatican's teachings
- Certified catechist (or one of the more advanced certifications)
- Solid home family life (does not necessarily need to be married, but
would be ideal)
- Would be able to interact well with various members of the community
- Trilingual (Cantonese, Mandarin, English) (preferred)
- Ability to oversee and lead a team of volunteers - emotional and
spiritual well-being (that would be us)

Responsibilities:
- Oversee youth Mass
- Oversee Watermark
- Oversee YAG (desirable)
- Potentially start a middle school group

Possible Compensation Issues:
1. Basic package (annually)
Base salary $
Housing allowance $
Utilities allowance $

2. Benefits (annually)
Retirement $
Car allowance $
Health insurance $
Social Security allowance $
Books and subscriptions $
Continuing education $

3. Vacation time: weeks per year.

Anyways, those are just my initial thoughts. I know those are some
intense and highly selective qualifications. We'd better start
praying =P

Pat
